Some Tips On Roulette Strategies

Roulette is a game in which all bets or all combinations of bets have the same house edge. Therefore no strategy is better than any other and no strategy can guarantee a win.

One roulette strategy that is fun to implement is known as the Martinez strategy. Again be warned that it does not guarantee a win nor does it improve the chances of winning. The player chooses a bankroll that is a multiple of 35. Low rollers may choose $35 whereas high rollers may choose $3,500. The strategy is to choose a number and keep betting 1/35th of the bankroll on that number till you win once or till you lose the bank roll. Let us see how it works with a bankroll of $350. Each wager will be $10 and let us say that the chosen number is ‘1’. Suppose Number ‘1’ is called in the first spin itself. The player wins $350, because single number bets pay out at 35 to 1. And his bankroll is intact. So he has won $350 spending money. Suppose Number ‘1’ is not called in the first ten spins. The player has lost $100 and his bankroll is now $250. If Number ‘1’ is called on the 11th spin, he wins $350, which is equal to his original bankroll and has $250 spending money. Suppose Number ‘1’ is not called in the first thirty-four spins. The player has lost $340 and his bankroll is now $10. If Number ‘1’ is called on the 35th spin, he wins $350, which is equal to his original bankroll and has only $10 spending money. If the Number ‘1’ is not called at all the player loses his entire bankroll. Therefore though the Martinez strategy does not give the player a better chance of winning it ensures that if the player wins early on he has a good amount of splurge money. But the chances of winning early on are low and not winning at all is a reasonable possibility.

One strategy to avoid at all costs is the doubling strategy. The player wagers on any of the even money bets and keeps doubling his wager after every loss. When the player eventually wins he recovers an amount equal to his original wager. The key word is eventually because the "eventually" may never arrive. Almost all online casinos have a maximum limit on the bets, though the cap may vary from casino to casino. Say for example the limit is $500. If the player starts with $10 he can double only 6 times before hitting the maximum limit. Losing an even money bet 6 times in a row is a realistic proposition. Here players need to understand the "gamblers fallacy". The probability of the roulette wheel showing a red number is almost 50% and of showing a black number is also almost 50%. If the roulette wheel shows a red number 5 times in a row, the probability of showing a black number in the 6th spin remains at almost 50%. The sequence of red numbers does not change anything. Each spin is an independent event. Hence the player’s strategy involves taking a big risk for winning $10. If the player starts with $1 he can double 8 times with a max bet of $500. Hence he can get two additional wagers in but restricts his win to $1 only.
