The Basics

Before playing any online casino games, you should understand what the game is all about, how it is played, and how the betting works. The game of roulette is a game of chance, and winning is based only partially on the luck of where the tiny ball lands on the roulette wheel, and somewhat more importantly on understanding how to place your wagers on the roulette table.

Amount of Money are You Planning to Bet

You should choose how much money you are planning to bet with for your whole gaming session. This amount would include roulette and any other games you may choose to play. Once you have a total worked out, you should allocate how much you are setting aside for playing roulette. Once you have decided on the amount of wagering money, the next step is to decide how many rounds you would like to play.

If you have set aside the sum of $300, and you decide that you wish to play ten games for your gaming session, then you should limit yourself to $30 per game. If you wish to play fifteen games, then you should limit yourself to $20 per game. Once you know what you are working with, you can then decide the best way to wager this money.

Wise (and Not So Wise) Choices

Placing a bet on one number may be a great way to test your luck, but it is certainly not a great way to win. Although, if you do win on a single number bet, the potential winnings are much higher, at 36:1. The odds on winning are not very likely in a single number bet, as the house edge is very high.

Place at least one outside bet, and possibly a cover bet.
Do not place a bet on reds and evens or on blacks and odds at the same time. This point is explained further below.

Know the Roulette Wheel in Order to Wager Well

The 36 numbers on a roulette wheel are not in numerical order. The colors alternate between red and black. There are eight even numbers that fall on the red colors, and the rest of them are on black spaces. There are eight odd numbers that fall on the black colors, and the rest of them are on red spaces. Therefore, placing a bet on black and even is a good bet, and in the same way, placing a bet on red and odd is a good bet too.

A Reminder

Even if you place your bets well, it is still possible to lose in a game of chance. If you lose, stop playing after the number of rounds you had pre-decided. On the other hand, even if you are winning and feel like you're having a 'winning streak,' you should still stop at the limits you have imposed upon yourself so that you can ensure that you do not throw away your newly won money on that 'one last bet.'
