Online Roulette Guide

Roulette is a very simple game to learn and to understand how to play. Here at Casino People we've provided the rules and strategy on playing roulette. Whether you're playing roulette online or at land based casinos there are very few differences between the two. The benefit of playing roulette at online casinos is that there are typically more variations for roulette including "French roulette" available at online casinos that you may have trouble finding in land based casinos depending on where you are in the world.

Roulette Rules

Roulette was initially introduced during the 17th century back in France. It has since become a very popular casino game especially in Monte Carlo, Monaco which is famous and well known for casinos playing roulette. In this game, there are usually about a maximum of eight players who all play against the casino which the croupier or dealer represents. This croupier or dealer is also the one who spins the wheel as well as handle bets and payouts.

One of the popular variations of roulette is European roulette which has a wheel with 37 slots. These slots represent number 1-36. The other popular variation is the American roulette which has one more extra number or slot. This is the double zero which makes up the 38 slots on the wheel.

Before playing roulette, players are required to purchase chips which are color coded so both dealers and players can easily know how much amount had been wagered. At the same time, the chips don’t get mixed up and confuse everyone else. When play ends and you have won some bets, you can ask these color-coded chips to be exchanged for cash chips. These cash chips have their values imprinted on it with some denominations in different colors, too. You may then take these chips to be exchanged for cash money.

You are now ready to play a game of roulette by placing your bet on numbers on the roulette table layout. You may bet on inside or outside bets, whichever you prefer. When everyone else are finished making their bets, the dealer will start spinning the roulette wheel and launch the ball in the opposite direction. When the ball is about ready to stop on a slot, the dealer will announce that no more bets will be accepted. When he starts signalling this, no one may make or change their bets. After the ball stops, the dealer moves the dolly on the area of the winning number then all losing bets are cleared from the roulette table layout. The next round then starts and players can start making their bets while the dealer pays out winning bets. The winners are not only those who bet on the winning number but also on groups/areas where the winning number may be classified e.g. color, row, etc.

Roulette bets are divided into two categories which players can bet on, and one can choose an arrangement or combination as one wishes. These two bets are inside and outside bets. An inside bet basically covers the area inside the table layout where one can put their wagers for a number. It also includes straight-up (any one of the numbers), split (numbers next to each other), street (3 numbers with the same bets), square (junction of 0-3) and corner (four adjoining numbers) bets. Outside bets are located around the periphery of the board which offers several betting alternatives. It includes low or high, black or red, odds or even, columns, and dozens, which are all self-explanatory.
