Online Gambling in USA Described as Behind the Times
November 24, 2010 | News Category: Online Casinos
A number of gambling industry executives in the United States have expressed the opinion that the United States is falling behind the times when it comes to online gambling developments. This seems to be the view of a number of the land based gambling executives who have been at the G2E expo in Las Vegas.
The reason, however, that the online gambling industry is lagging behind in the United States is not because the wherewithal is lacking, but that the online gambling developments have been suppressed, in the most part, because of political interference.
Since online gambling has become very popular, it is natural that players will want to gamble both online and offline, or perhaps only online, depending on their personal situations. The iPhone, for example has become a very popular mobile device, and it can be used in many different ways, including for online gambling games.
Judy Patterson, from the American Gaming Association (AGA) told 8 News Now: "There's traditionally been a reluctance to expand gaming in the United States and this is probably just another example of it." Patterson appeared positive that there should be the change that is currently underway.
The well known Bally Technologies slot machine manufacturer's representative, Bryan Kelly, noted: "Everything that the (land) casino wants to market to you today that we can do here, we can now do on your mobile device."
Surely, it therefore makes sense that if it is possible to use today's technology to market anything to mobile devices, then those who use them should have the choice about what they wish to use their mobile devices for.
Aegir Saevarsson, from Betware Iceland noted the obvious about the world we live in today. Since just about everything can be done online, and is done online, he commented: "Everybody here is losing business if they don't have an online presence."
Saevarsson is of the opinion that land based casinos should extend their relationships with their patrons by also having a way for them to be connected online. In this way, the land based casinos would allow their players to continue their relationship online, after a physical visit has already been made to the land based casino.
Unfortunately for those in the United States, after the recent mid-term elections, things are not looking up for the online gambling bill that had already begun its way through the political system.
