Playtech plc, the online casino software company, announced in January that they would have a number of new initiatives this year, 2010. The online casino software company has released its new mobile gaming platform.

Playtech’s mobile gaming platform is called Mobile Web Apps, and is a cross-platform solution. Players will find that they can play in their chosen online casino on their personal computers, and also play in the same online casino while they’re on the go. Players will be able to use the same account on both their computers, and their mobile devices, as well as the same log-in details.

Players will be able to play online casinos games without first having to download them. This instant play mode is sure to be a winner with Playtech’s online casino players. The Mobile Web Apps technology can be used on Android phones, the iPod Touch and the iPhone.

Those who operate Playtech online casinos will now be able to easily move some of their operations into the mobile gaming market, and thereby increase the number of customers who frequent their online casinos.

Playtech already have more than a dozen games that are available for those wishing to play on their mobile devices. Mobile Web Apps will introduce a video poker game, Jacks or Better, Blackjack, and a progressive slot game, Gold Rally. Gold Rally is linked to Playtech’s online casino progressive slot jackpot, which has paid out more than a million to each of five players over the past year. Also scheduled for release are three Java based games. These games include the lottery style game, Keno, a single player version of bingo, Pop Bingo, and the ever-popular Rock, Paper, Scissors, which will carry fixed odds.

The innovative feature, Casino Packs, allows users to formulate their own download packages. The online casino operator can bundle a number of games into a single package, allowing users to download the uniquely designed package.

Playtech’s IMS (Information Management Solution), their operational infrastructure, is also being used for the Mobile Gaming platform. The IMS monitors and manages the mobile gaming operation’s activities, and allows the customization and integration that can be used across platforms. The games that are being offered come with all the usually features that can be found in their online casino versions.

Playtech is pushing hard to keep at the top of their field. They are already the largest publicly traded online gaming software company in the world. However, they are not seen as the top online gaming software company in the eyes of those in the industry. Introducing applications such as the Mobile Web Apps is yet another way to help raise their popularity to that of the very well known Microgaming and Cryptologic.
