Microgaming has recently moved further into the mobile gaming world. The online gambling software company has already got a mobile casino offering, which comes in the form of a partnership with the company Spin3, and this new development is complementary to the existing Spin3 partnership. The most recent announcement from Microgaming regarding mobile gaming is very exciting for those using the Android v2.2 Froyo mobile devices.
The Android v2.2 Froyo needs to be running Adobe Flash 10.1 in order to use this new offering. The head of casino from Microgaming, Mike Hedben, said: "The interest around Android v2.2 is massive; the Froyo user interface and experience is comparable to that of the iPhone and the platform is rapidly growing in popularity with developers and consumers. Android has more momentum than any other platform and is largely driving the increased sales of smart phones."
With the rising popularity of the Android, it is important for online casino operators to keep up with the times, and support the device that is becoming more and more widespread. Daniel Goss, the Managing Director for Betway, said: "A successful mobile casino business needs to support Android, and we are delighted to be able to meet this demand."
Microgaming's Betway Casino is the first online casino operator using the company's online casino software that will be launching the new games both in a free game format, and in a play for money game format.
A spokesperson from Microgaming noted that the new games for Android devices will be offered to users as Spin3's Android device solution. There will be applications that will be specially designed for Android devices that will be released in the months ahead.
Many of the mobile phones that are already popular are using the Android operating system, such as Motorola Milestone 2, Google Nexus One, and HTC Desire. The Android operating system is also in use for many of the tablet style devices that will be released in 2011. The tablet or pad style devices have become very popular in recent months, and are likely to gain in popularity in the new year.
The research firm, Gartner, has already predicted that the Android's market share in 2012 is likely to reach as much as 14% of the smart phones used worldwide. Gartner has predicted that the Android is likely to surpass other popular smart phones by 2014. Essentially, the company believes that the Android will ultimately be more popular than the iPhone, the BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile.
