According to the reports for the last quarter of 2008, online casinos, on the other hand, have shown as a general trend that as the economy has declined, their revenue has either increased or held steady. Experts believe that this trend will continue into 2009.

Many casino gamblers who would usually travel to land-based casinos, whether for overnight stays or simply for a few hours, find the expense of the travel to be too high. For those who do not wish to forgo their favorite leisure activity, they will choose to rather gamble in an online casino than travel to a land-based casino. Experts believe that people may even choose to play in online casinos rather than going out to the movies or other land-based entertainment because for much less cash, they can be entertained for longer. Of course, there is always the possibility of winning big that will further entice players.
