High School Student Gambling Online!

It seems that no matter what, those that wish to play in online casinos will find a way. Although online casinos all have age restrictions, where players need to be at least eighteen, and sometimes even older than that in order to open an account, occasionally underage players manage to find a way to slip through the cracks.

The most recent case that was uncovered was in Tokyo. A high school student opened an online casino account in the name of an adult. The student wanted to use the name to bet in online casinos, and also boat and bicycle races. He was discovered by the police when he was trying to transfer funds into the bank account from the online casino, and then to his own account.

On further investigation, the police discovered how the underage would-be online gambler managed to open the bank account. In August, the high school student bought identification for a housewife, aged 41, for 17,000 yen. The student placed an advertisement on a bulletin board on the Internet offering to pay 10,000 yen for a bank account.

Before he had purchased the bank account, the student had already signed up with an online casino. He managed to open the online casino account by using his mother's credit card in July, 2007. He was able to accumulate 1.3 million yen in this time. At the time that the student looked for a bank account to enable him to withdraw his winnings, he also stated that he would sell bank account to prospective buyers. He then defrauded these buyers to the amount of 70,000 yen. He had nearly run out of money, which is why he had wanted his own bank account to use in the online casino.

In Japan, online casinos are in the process of becoming legal. In other countries, where online casinos are regulated and legalized, online casinos are better set up to catch this type of fraud. Part of the reason that Japan is opening their own online casinos is that they want to prevent the kind of fraud that have been taking place in Japan. They want to create a safe place for their citizens to gamble online, rather than get caught up in scams.

It seems that if an underage person is willing to commit credit card fraud, they will be able to open an online casino account. However, when it comes to withdrawing money from the online casino account, they will be unable to do so without breaking many other laws.

It would be best if underage would-be gamblers remembered that 'All good things come to those who wait.'
