The one million euros in prize money to the first place winner is the largest prize that has ever been awarded to one person for an online slot tournament. Players began to play in the free feeder tournaments as early as the beginning of July, in order to gain free entry into the Grand Slam of Slots online slot tournament. The actual tournament lasted for 11 days, and competition was fierce. When Pattoned commented on his historic win, he said “I’m ecstatic to have won and can’t quite believe it yet. I’m absolutely stunned! What will I do with the money? Who knows; we’ll have to wait and see!” When he was asked if he was planning to continue working in her regular job, he was quite clear on that: “I’m not thinking about leaving work at all, I absolutely love what I do and want to continue it for as long as I can.”

The second place winner, Rick H, might have been disappointed not to become a millionaire, but he did not go away empty-handed. Rick H won €50,000 as the second place prize. All top ten players, apart from their cash prizes, also won free entry into the next Grand Slam final.

Microgaming have once again shown their expertise in the online casino software field. A tournament of this magnitude required extensive planning, since online casino players had to be simultaneously connected, with huge amounts of data being handled continuously.
