What better place than the Internet to gain support to legalize online gambling? The very popular social media network, Facebook, is being used by a United States senator to gain the support of those that would like to legalize online gambling.

Senator Raymond Lesniak, from New Jersey, uses various means to gain support for the online gambling industry and other issues that he proposes and supports. Senator Lesniak is a very strong supporter of legalizing online gambling in the State of New Jersey, and in the rest of the United States. He is one of the well-known politicians who has joined the battle against anti-online gambling legislation, such as the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.)

Social media sites, such as Facebook, allow their users to create fan pages, which offers those that feel strongly about certain issues a chance to air their views and garner support. Those who would like to join the cause and support online gambling for New Jersey can join the group that Senator Lesniak has created.

Although Senator Lesniack most certainly supports online casino gambling, his current battle is against PASPA (Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act.) The act banned all forms of sports betting through most of the United States. Senator Lesniak filed a lawsuit last month, on March 23rd, claiming that this Act is against the Constitution of the United States. Since this time, he has been working very hard to gain support in all the areas that he can.

This is not the first time that a social media network has been used to gain support for an issue involving online gambling. The PPA (Poker Players’ Alliance) has used a Twitter campaign, which gained huge amounts of support. Campaigns such as these show the government that there is also support for the issues at a grassroots level.

For those who wish to support Senator Lesniak’s campaign on Facebook, simply search for "OK to Play: Support i-Gaming." Senator Lesniack says that this is one of the best ways that awareness for this cause can be raised. Social networks reach people that may not be easily reachable in other ways.

One of the administrators for the Facebook group is Joe Brennan Jr., the chairman of iMEGA (Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association.)

The senator is hoping that the group will grow in size to at least 200,000 fans. However, at this time, the group stands at 286 members.

Senator Lesniak also has an online petition, which can be found at www.NJLD20.com/sportsbetting.php for those that wish to show their support in legalizing online gambling.
