The Isle of Man is a well known online gambling jurisdiction. Of the various business sectors that the are in operation on the Isle of Man, the e-gaming sector is considered to be the fastest growing of them all, and the island’s government is doing what they can to help this sector increase in size.
There are over 600 people employed in a variety of roles in the e-gaming sector. These 600 plus employees take care of the 25 active e-gaming license-holding operations that are based on the Isle of Man.
The e-gaming course that is being offered is there to help those who wish to enter this lucrative sector to learn skills, and acquire knowledge, that will help them to do so. The course has been started by the Isle of Man Government’s Department of Hamblin Employment Group. The course is going to be held over three days, between September 21st and September 23rd.
The course is to be divided into four modules, each of which teach the participants about the e-gaming sector, from creating awareness of what is out there, as well as a general understanding of how it works, and also the best ways to apply for positions in the e-gaming sector.
The course has been designed after some of the bigger e-gaming companies on the Isle of Man explained what they look for in future employees. The four modules are as follows: The Ideal Employee, What is e-Gaming?, Risk and Social Responsibility, and also the very important CV Skills and Interview Techniques. Essentially, the course provides those that attend with all the basic skills they will need to get a start in the e-gaming industry.
Those attending the first three groups that are doing the course are lucky enough to have the Department for Economic Development fund 50 percent of the course fees of each attendee.
Garth Kimber, the head of e-gaming development in the Department of Economic Development said: "I am delighted that we have received such great support from the employers for this training." Kimber continued: "Lisa Underwood (the e-Gaming development manager) has used her own experience in training and input from the industry to ensure that the Department of Economic Development and Hamblin can offer a fantastic opportunity to understand and learn the skills that some of the fastest growing businesses on the Island are keen to find."
The Chief Executive Officer at Hamblin, Emma Allard, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Department of Economic Development and some of the major e-gaming companies here on the Island." She also said: "We hope that attending delegates will find that the course gives them a real advantage in securing work in the e-gaming industry."
