Although it has not yet been announced who the purchaser is, another online gambling URL has gone for a high price. The high price that was paid for the URL was $580,000.

The online casino domain name that was sold for $580,000 was for a Danish site with the domain name onlinecasino.dk. Even though the price that was paid for the domain name was quite high, it was very low when compared with another recent online gambling domain name sale, in which Bodog Casino purchased slots.com at the incredibly high price of $5.8 million.

Even though onlinecasino.dk went for only one tenth of slots.com, the URL is intended for use by a much smaller market, which means, that relatively speaking, the domain went for a rather large sum of money.

Some details have been released about who bought the Danish online domain name, however, the buyer still wishes to remain anonymous. It is known that the online gaming company that purchased the domain name is based in Malta. It is also known that the new owner has plans to develop the website before launching it.

Onlinecasino.dk was an online gambling site that has once been an information portal as well as an online casino guide for those in Denmark. The site already has a lot of traffic that goes to it, with over three and a half million visitors per month reported, which means that it is one of the top generic online domain names that can be found throughout the Nordic countries.

However, having a high volume of traffic is not the only reason that the domain name was bought for such a high price. The reason that the time was right to sell this domain at this time is also most likely connected to the fact that the Danish government has recently liberalized the online gambling market in Denmark.

Since July 1st 2010, just a few weeks ago, the Danish online gambling market has begun to allow online gambling operators to be licensed, which means that the online gambling market is simply destined to continue to grow and move forwards at this time. Since January 2010, Danske Spil, the Danish online gambling monopoly at that time, was offering online casino gambling to Danish players. Since the beginning of this month, Danes will have a far greater choice, because they can now play online casino games with far greater choice as far as online gambling websites are concerned.
