Confirmation From eWalletXpress of US Closure
January 25, 2011 | News Category: Casino Banking
Many online gamblers in the United States used eWalletXpress as their preferred online casino payment processor. In November of 2010, players in the US were suddenly unable to withdraw or transfer their online casino funds, and rumors went around that the US federal authorities had seized funds from eWalletXpress.
eWalletXpress responded to this issue by claiming "technical difficulties" as the reason that their US users were unable to deposit or withdraw funds via the this eWallet system. Once rumors began to circulate, there was some panic amongst players that they would be unable to withdraw their online casino funds, however, there was still some hope that all would be well because eWalletXpress was sticking to their "technical difficulties" story.
This week, all this has changed, and the players' fears have come true. The eWalletXpress group has issued a statement acknowledging that the rumors are correct, and that online gamblers in the United States will be unable deposit or withdraw any funds via this online casino payment processor. eWalletXpress explained that their services would no longer be available to those that are resident in the United States.
Those customers that have tried to visit the eWalletXpress website have found the following message:
<i>
"Dear Customers,
You all may already be aware of the fact that eWalletXpress has been out of service since November last year.
At this point we must regretfully inform you that our funds and accounts were seized by the United States Government as part of a confidential investigation. We have contacted the US investigating agencies and are currently negotiating with them. At present, eWalletXpress is unable to access these funds or return them to you because the money is no longer in our custody or control.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Due to the sensitivity of the situation we were not able to notify you earlier and we do sincerely apologize again for any inconvenience you may have suffered.
We are grateful for your patronage over the years and are trying our best to resolve this issue quickly.
Best Regards
eWalletXpress"</i>
The customer service representatives at eWalletXpress have been spending much of their time assuring their users that their money will eventually be returned to them. However, those players in the United States who had money in their eWalletXpress accounts are now concerned that they will never see their funds again. The customer service agents have no idea when the funds will be returned to the players, although they do say that the money will eventually be returned, and that eWalletXpress is working hard to recover these funds.
When Neteller was forced to leave the US market about four years ago, their customers did eventually get their funds returned, however, the waiting time before the funds were returned to the online casino players was six months.
