Review of the The Great Galaxy Grab

The Great Galaxy Grab is, at its core, a 5-reel video slot with 25 pay lines. But every semblance of being a traditional video slot game ends right there.

This is a video slot with an actual story it sort of reminds me of a dodgy 80s sci-fi movie called The Ice Pirates. The Great Galaxy Grab concerns the doings of an anti-hero, the swashbuckling (I actually used the word swashbuckling) pirate Captain Bronzebeard. He zooms about the galaxy in his good ship Stella, basically looting the place silly.

Other characters that join him on this epic journey of debauchery are his trusty crew ("Arrrrr mateys"), a dubious trio called Dan, Dozer and Rusty, and his good wife Steel Scarlet.

The game's graphics are utterly lush and beautifully animated Microgaming have truly outdone themselves here. You will be enthralled and charmed by the look, and will spend as much time enjoying the little animations as actually playing.

Down to the technical stuff at first glance you might think this is not a high paying game the listed top jackpot is only 2,000 coins. But you'd be wrong, because the Great Galaxy Grab isn't about the main game, it's about the bonus games, where the jackpots are much, much higher. Read on.

Wild Symbol:
The Great Galaxy Grab logo is wild, substituting for almost any other symbol. Sadly, it's not a multiplier, just a fixer.

Scatter Symbol:
A shiny G is the scatter symbol. You need three or more of these, anywhere on the reels, to activate free spins.

There are six different bonus games. I could write an article about each one, they are so varied and fantastic. I think it's awesome that Microgaming put so much effort into making a game that is so much fun to play: because of the variety in the bonus games, you never get that feeling of de ja vu that it's possible to get with other slot games.
