Live Dealer Blackjack can usually be played in one of two ways. The one that is more well known is Personal Dealer Blackjack, and the other is a Public Blackjack Game.

Personal Dealer Blackjack

This game is set up much the same as at a land based casino, and it is also closer to traditional blackjack, as it is played in a land based casino. As with live blackjack tables, there is a limit as to how many players can play at any given time. Although the limit is usually set at seven players, most often, the casino stops allowing more players to join when it reaches six players. When the casino is really busy, they will usually allow players to then occupy the seventh seat. This is true for both land based casino blackjack tables, and for Personal Dealer Blackjack.

Each player is dealt a hand. The players will place wagers on the hand, just like in regular casino blackjack, and they will play it out one hand at a time, according to the rules of the blackjack game that is being played. Each player has their own turn to split, stand, and hit, before play passes to the next player.

Public Blackjack Games

This version of Live Dealer Blackjack is somewhat different to Personal Dealer Blackjack, although it does use a live dealer. The way that the Public Blackjack Games are played is usually that the live dealer deals three blackjack hands, however, they are not dealt to individual players, but are used by all who are participating in the game.

The players then choose which of the three hands they would like to place their bets on. Bets may be placed on one hand, two hands, or even all three hands if the player so wishes. All the players who are playing any given round will place their bets at the same time. If a player is betting on more than one hand, all the bets should also be placed at the same time.

According to the rules set out by the casino, the live dealer then plays out the blackjack hands. The dealer will hit, split, double, or stand according to the rules. These decisions of how to play the hand should be based on the best blackjack strategy for the chosen game.

As a variation to this theme, some online casinos also let players make a number of decisions regarding how the hands should be played out.
