Progressive Blackjack

Online casinos are well known for the progressive jackpots that they offer. When one talks about progressive jackpots, or thinks of playing progressive jackpots, players are likely to think first and foremost of online casino slot games.
There are those players, however, who like the chance to receive larger payouts, and do not enjoy playing slots. High rollers can expect large payouts when they win, but high rollers also have to make large investments in order to receive those bigger payouts. For this reason, many players will go as far as placing an extra bet on online blackjack in order to play the progressive blackjack jackpot.
The way that online casino progressive blackjack usually works is that players will play a game of blackjack that is played in the regular way. It is often played with eight decks of cards, and the additional bet that allows the player a chance for the progressive jackpot is a $1 side bet. Players may join in with this game and choose not to place a wager on the progressive blackjack side bet, and it is then a regular online blackjack game.
The blackjack progressive jackpot is paid out when the player is dealt four Aces. Either the four Aces need to be all red, or all black. There are fixed payouts that are made when players are dealt other combinations of Aces that consist of both red and black Aces, or a smaller number of Aces.
The progressive blackjack rules differ from online casino to online casino, although the basic idea of how it operates is similar. Some online casinos will not offer fixed payouts for some of the winning combinations, but will rather offer a percentage of the progressive blackjack jackpot. For example, one online casino software provider offers its players 10% of the progressive jackpot when four Aces of different colors are dealt.
While the progressive blackjack jackpots at Cryptologic, and Playtech powered online casinos all operate somewhat as described above, Microgaming has a different progressive blackjack variant that uses sevens rather than Aces. It is known as Triple Sevens. When three sevens of diamonds are dealt, the progressive blackjack jackpot is hit. One might think that it is easier to his this jackpot because only three cards are required, however, any advantage gained by it being only three cards is lost because they all have to be in the same single suit. There are other fixed payouts for other combinations of sevens.
Progressive blackjack jackpots do not pay out very often, and the payouts do not usually exceed a couple of hundred thousand dollars, often taking more than a year to even reach that amount.
