Internet hackers are well known for using phishing scams. A phishing scam is a scam whereby unknown parties, or hackers, trick people into revealing their online passwords. There are many attempts to do this for online bank accounts, e-wallet processing accounts, and even online casino accounts, although it is more likely that online casino players will be targeted via their credit card or e-wallet processing accounts.

One of the major challenges that reputable online casinos deal with is that of ensuring the security of both the funds that are transferred to the online casino, and somewhat more importantly, that sensitive details that are given to the online casino are kept secure.

While the funds transferred obviously need to make it safely into the online casino's bank account, players should be far more concerned that their credit card information and log in details are kept safe and secure.

Reputable online casinos make sure to keep all sensitive information, and all the transactions connected with anything financial as safe and secure as possible. The online casinos do this by ensuring that encryption software is used, along with various other security methods.

Players should not think that online gambling transactions are not safe when playing at a trustworthy online casino. These transactions are just as safe as making other purchases online, however, in all cases when sensitive information is transferred over the Internet, there are certain precautions that should be followed.

As far as Internet security goes, the weakest link in the chain is usually at the end user, which in this case is the online casino player. In order to keep things safe and secure, players need to do all that they can to ensure that their credit card details are kept safe and that their e-wallet log in details are also kept safe.

If players think they may have been caught by a phishing scam, it is imperative that they contact the e-wallet processing company, or the online casino, or any other site that might have been hacked into, as soon as possible. The best way to do this may be a phone call to Customer Services so that the player can find out how they need to proceed at the same time. If the security breach was the fault of the player it is unlikely that they will ever recoup the funds that the hackers have stolen.
