Online Casino Payouts

What is a Payout Percentage?
When choosing an online casino, there are many points that an online casino player should consider and look into before making a final decision. Part of the decision would be based on some general things first, such as whether the player likes the look and feel of the online casino. Others are more specific, such as checking out the software that is used for the online casino, laws and regulations of the area the player lives in, the odds that are offered on each hand, and more. One of the important points to look at is the payout percentage, or what is simply called the payout.
On any good and reputable online casino, the payout percentage figure should appear somewhere on the online casino’s site. The payout is the portion, or percentage of the total amount of money that is bet by the specific online casino’s customers, that is paid out in winnings. For example, if the payout percentage is 96.5 percent, this means that except for a 3.5 percent profit margin that the online casino keeps, 96.5 percent of all money bet at the online casino is paid out in winnings.
This figure is sometimes indicated as a general global percentage for the online casino, but is more regularly calculated as a payout percentage per game. Since different types of online casino games can vary greatly in this regard, it makes much sense to show payout percentages for individual games.
Payouts Should be Audited
Before signing up with an online casino, it is important for players to ensure that payouts will be accompanied by the verification of a third party. When payouts are independently audited, this is a good sign that the online casino site is trustworthy and fair in their dealings.
Usually, the casino’s home page will show a verification certificate. It can change from time to time, and should be updated around once a month, or possibly a bit further apart than that.
There are a few well-known independent auditors who auditor many of the online casinos and other Internet gambling companies for the online gambling industry. Particularly well-known are PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), the Online Players Association (OPA), and eCOGRA (e-Commerce Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance). Should an online casino be audited by another auditing company, it is well-advised for players to look up the company, and reviews for the auditing company, on the Internet, to ensure that they are legitimate and trustworthy.
Payouts are Higher in Online Casinos
The payout percentage that is offered in online casinos, although it does vary somewhat, is far higher than that found in land-based casinos. The simple reason for this is that land-based casinos have much higher running costs than online casinos do. This means that there is more money that can be given out to players, while still allowing the online casinos to earn a good chunk of profit. For this reason, players are risking less of their hard-earned money when playing in online casinos than the amount that they would be risking at land-based casinos.
Payout Summary
Good payouts are based not only on the payout percentage that is quoted, but also on the verification and auditing that is set in place for the specific online casino.
