No Download Casinos Lack Quantity and Quality
January 26, 2009 | Article Category: Casino Software
When online casinos were new in the market, the only option that players had was to download the software onto their computers and play in that way. As technology has moved forward by leaps and bounds, there are other options available, such as casinos played through a web-browser using the Flash and Java applications.
Players wanting to play through their web-browser's should ensure that they have the necessary plug-ins installed prior to beginning play. Without the relevant Flash or Java plug-ins, the casino games cannot operate through a web browser. The plug-ins are free and are available for download from the Internet. In most cases, players will see a message on their screens prompting them to download the necessary plug-ins.
Because plug-ins are needed for play, those using shared computers may not have the ability to download and install the necessary plug-ins. However, since these plug-ins are used for a number of other applications other than casino websites, it is possible that they will already be installed on the shared computer, thereby allowing play to begin with almost no delays.
Even though no download casinos drastically reduce the initial download time, there is still a delay while the program is loading, as graphics, audio files and game files need to be transferred via the web. In the long run, if a player is using their own computer and can download the software, they will spend less combined time downloading software than if they used no download software.
While there are constant improvements being done for no download software, the quality of graphics and sounds are certainly inferior to those of download software. The other significant drawback is the number of games available for no download software. While online casinos may offer a large number of games through their Flash interfaces, the choices that download software offer come in a much greater variety. Often, the casino feel that is available in online casinos is lacking when using no download software.
Certain users, such as Mac and Linux users often do not have the option to use downloaded software as it is written for Windows powered computers and is incompatible with both Mac and Linux. The Mac and Linux users can use the Flash and Java plug-ins with their web-browsers in order to play in online casinos. There are some casinos that have special programs written for Mac and/or Linux users, however, they are few and far between.
Players should note that smooth play can be affected by unstable Internet connections. Should play be interrupted, recovery of the game from the point at which it was interrupted is often not possible, whereas it is almost always possible when using downloaded software.
While there are a number of positive reasons to use no download software, it is certainly clear that the no download software has a number of drawbacks and those who have a choice should certainly choose download software to play in their favorite casinos when seeking maximum enjoyment, playing pleasure and ease of play.
