Is Online Gambling Only Available to Adults?

Although casino players, and would be casino players, are quite clear that land based casinos do not allow underage players to gamble on their gaming floors, there are those that think that perhaps the rules can be twisted, or do perhaps that they do not really count when gambling online. This, of course, is not the case.

Even though the online casino do not see their players as they "enter" the online casino, and even though the player is technically not entering a gambling establishment, the rules of all reputable online casinos allow only adults to gamble on their online casino sites.

The online gambling age is determined by the gambling jurisdiction in which the online casino site is licensed. In most cases, the legal gambling age is 18 years or older, although there are some that are somewhat stricter with their age restrictions, only allowing gambling by those who have already reached the age of 21.

For those who think that they can ignore the online gambling age restrictions, there are some important points that they should remember. Other than the fact that taking part in online gambling when you are below the legal age limit is illegal, there are other important things to remember.

When reading the online casino's Terms and Conditions, players will see that those who are not eligible to play in the online casino, will not be paid any winnings, should they win money at the online casino. The online casino has a legal right to refuse payouts to anyone who played at the casino under false pretences. This means that if someone who is underage managed to find a way to get around the online casino sign up process, and played illegally at the online casino, they will not be paid out their winnings. Reputable online casinos do not knowingly allow underage players to sign up at their casinos.

Imagine winning a huge jackpot, such as the Mega Moolah online casino progressive slot jackpot from Microgaming, which is always worth more than a million, and then being unable to claim your prize because you are underage. Not only would this be highly disappointing, but it would also be against the online casino rules, and most likely against the law of the country in which you are playing.

For those who are underage, and would like to gamble online, there are many free games sites available on the Internet. Even though players cannot win any real money, they can still enjoy all the fun of playing online casino games for free, and when they reach the legal gambling age, can then make a decision as to whether they would like to gamble online or not.

To give the short answer to the question as to whether online gambling is only available to adults: "Yes!"
