How to File an Online Casino Complaint
May 12, 2009 | Article Category: Online Casinos
Should a player find it necessary to file a complaint against an online casino, there are certain steps and procedures that should be followed. Players should be sure that their complaints are legitimate because the consequences can have far-reaching legal effects.
Step One - Is the Complaint Legitimate?
Before filing a complaint, make sure that the complaint is a legitimate one. The first step would be to read the terms and conditions and the privacy statement of the online casino or any of their offers. If no information is specified regarding the complaint, you may find more information by asking others in chat rooms what they have done if they had a similar complaint, or you can contact a lawyer.
If, after doing so, you still feel that you have a legitimate complaint, you can take the next step of finding the correct authorities.
Step Two - Find the Correct Authorities
Complaints are either filed through specific bodies or authoritative institutions which relate to the area of the complaint. Online casinos will either be governed by their licensing jurisdiction, or by an official body that handles the gambling Act in your area. If there is no gambling regulation council in your area, you can approach a general business regulation board. This information can be found through the Internet or by contacting a lawyer.
Step Three - Complaint Forms
If you decide that you will proceed with your complaint, you should get a complaint form if there is one available. This can be found either by contacting the office of the body to whom you wish to complain, or it may be found on their website. If there is no complaint form available, you can simply write or type the relevant information clearly and succinctly.
Step Four - Fill Out the Complaint Form
There will be basic information that needs to be filled in. Other than the basic information, you need to include any relevant details, including names, times, dates, the reason for the complaint and any other relevant information. Keep the information as clear as possible and relevant to the complaint.
Step Five - Send the Complaint Form to the Correct Authority
The complaint form, along with any other relevant and appropriate documents should be sent to the address that has been specified on the form you have filled in.
Note
The processing of complaints can take a long time because each complaint needs to go through a bureaucratic process. A response can take a number of weeks and sometimes it may take a number of months.
Processing time for complaints depends largely on the body or authority through which the complaint has been filed. If the complaint is considered legitimate, you will be told what the next step will be and whether you need to do anything else. If the complaint is not deemed legitimate, you will be given the advice to drop the complaint.
