How Can Online Casinos Afford Payouts?

There is no question that an online casino, at least one that is well run, should have no problem making both payouts and profits. Online casino software is written in such a way that the online casino will always make a profit. This profit is the house edge.

All casinos need to have a house edge, otherwise, they could not afford to be in business. The random number generators are set in such a way that a certain percentage of plays, be they on slots, or other games, will be won by players. When it comes to slot games, this number is usually quite a high percentage, such as 97 percent, or perhaps 95 percent, which can be considered fairly low in an online casino. At most online casinos, the house edge for slots, where they make most of them money, falls somewhere between 95 percent and 98 percent.

Of course, there are some table games that have fairly low payout percentages, or at least some of the bets that players may place come with fairly low payout percentages, which is one of the ways that online casinos add to their income while payout out less.

Land based casinos have higher overheads because they have to run large physical properties, and pay many employees to keep the casino running. This means that at land based casinos, players will win less times than at online casinos.

One might ask then, how does an online casino cover expenses such as the larger wins, perhaps as much as $50,000 or more. These larger wins should be no problem for a well run online casino to pay. It certainly does dip deeper into the online casino's pockets, but overall, they should be making the money back either on that game, or elsewhere in their online casino.

If the online casino is new, and a large payout needs to be made near the time that the online casino opened its virtual doors, an honest, reputable, and good online casino would ensure that it has enough liquidity to be able to cover the cost of the payout, even if they have not yet generated enough revenue from their new online casino to do so.

Although online casinos are obviously in the business to make money, it should never be a one way street, but a two way street, where the online casino receives wagers from their customers, and the customers receive payouts, sometimes large, sometimes small, and sometimes not at all.
