Can Anyone Count Cards?

One might think that Card Counting can only be done by a very small and select group of people, however, this is not necessarily the case. In some cased, Card Counters will simply keep track of how many high or low cards there are, or how many picture cards versus other cards have come out. Although the average online casino player will have some trouble keeping track of each and every card, especially when playing with multiple decks, as is usually the case for most casino games, it is fairly easy to keep track of only high or low cards, or only picture cards and Aces.

Card Counting does get easier with practice, and players should remember that Card Counting should be done only according to the skill of the counter. This is important to remember because if the player loses track of the number of cards that they have been counting, the odds will be determined incorrectly, and the player would therefore place their wagers based on incorrect calculations. Even though, with a lot of luck, it is still possible to draw the cards needed, it will certainly be without any thanks to effective Card Counting.

Card Counting Method

One method that is used is that the Card Counter will begin with a value of zero, and then count up or down depending on the card that is dealt. This could mean that when a card with a high value is dealt, the Card Counter will add one to zero, and so on, counting up, and if a card below a certain value is dealt, the Card Counter will subtract one number from zero, or whichever number the count is at, and therefore lower the count if a lower card is played.

In blackjack, the Card Counter will be hoping that the number will go up, which means that there are a greater number of high value cards left in the decks. When this is the case, the odds that the dealer will bust is more likely. It also means that it is likely that the Card Counter will be dealt better starting hands, with higher values, or perhaps even a blackjack. Betting can be determined according to the Card Counting results. For a higher card count, the player should place a larger bet, because the odds are in their favor to win, and for the dealer to bust. When the count is too low, the Card Counter should wager the minimum, or sit out a few hands until it improves. Of course, if the player chooses to sit out a few hands, it is important to remain at the table and watch the game, and keep on counting carefully.

Can Card Counting Possibly Be Legal?

Yes, it can, although players have been thrown out of land based casinos for Counting Cards. Casinos are within their legal rights to do so if they wish to. In fact, players can even be banned from a casino because of effective Card Counting.

It is almost certainly illegal to use any sort of electronic device to aid Card Counting.
